The Prospector Chardonnay 2019 750ml
Pip Battley did a superb job with our first chardonnay, from a stunning Alexandra vineyard.
Aged in new oak for 9 months, it is mouth filling and silky with baked peaches, pear, feijoa, almond meal and hazelnuts. A fine phenol vein with nicely balanced acidity leads to a lingering finish with lovely minerality.
It's the perfect drop for long summer evenings, to match with buttery popcorn and a classic 90's Christmas action movie.
The fruit was hand harvested on 13th of April 2019 and was whole bunch pressed to tank. The wine was aged in oak for 9 months during which time it was regularly lees stirred and 30% of the wine underwent malo-lactic fermentation. The overall new oak portion is 30%.
White peach, apricot, nectarine and pear with nougat, creamy cashew and biscotti notes. Mouthfilling and silky with baked peaches, pear, feijoa, almond meal and hazelnuts. A fine phenol vein with nicely balanced acidity leads to a lingering finish with lovely minerality.
