Askerne
Barbera 2025 750ml
WINEMAKING NOTES
This wine was made from grapes grown on the sandy silty top terrace of the Askerne vineyard. The grapes were fermented in open top tanks with inoculated yeast for aromatic intensity. Gentle hand plunging was used for extraction, and the wine was then held on skins for an extended period of post ferment maceration for tannin development. The wine was then pressed and racked to French oak barriques where it was aged for 8 months. The final blend has a 17% new oak component.

TASTING NOTES
Bright and fruity with tart cherry and blackberry notes, savoury plum spice, scented with hints of anise, and a sweet chalkiness to the aromatics. Juicy acidity with cocoa like tannins flow on a palate full of concentrated and sweet crushed berry fruit flavours. Delicious all the way through to the finish.
