2024 Maxim Chardonnay (Hawke’s Bay) Vineyard & Making

The 2024 season on our Hawke’s Bay block was exceptional. Yields were down ~60% due to poor flowering, concentrating flavour and aromatics.

Hand-picked and whole-bunch pressed into French barrels. Wild-yeast fermentation created a unique aromatic profile. Aged on lees for 10 months with no additions. Racked to tank for bottling with a small addition of sulphur. Unfined. Grown in the Tuki Tuki Valley on free-draining sandy loam over an old riverbed.

Tasting Ripe stone fruit, white peach and melon with hints of butterscotch and gentle oak. The palate is rich and long with texture, refreshing acidity and balance—pure, elegant and highly drinkable.
