Vintage Detail | 100% Merlot fruit sourced from our Estate grown vineyard in the heart of the Gimblett Gravels. After a spring with few frost events, the growing season saw mild summer days and cool nights with brief rain. The lead up to harvest was cool and refreshing winds and corresponding rainfall that kept the vineyards green and with solid canopies. Harvesting mid-March saw fruit that was ripe, clean and bright.

Winemakers Notes | This wine was predominately fermented in closed stainless steel fermenters, and then aged for 24 months in a mixture of new and seasoned French Oak barrels. This wines soft palate and fine tannins make it a perfect match for dishes with depth and earthiness - think slow cooked beef short ribs, duck with blueberry jus, or chargrilled eggplant. For a cheese pairing, try an aged cheddar or gouda to compliment the wines spice, leather and dark fruit notes.

On the nose, an abundance of sweetness and dark fruits with a background of cassis, dried herbs and tobacco. To taste, there are initial flavours of dark fruits, blackcurrant, dark chocolate and a hint of spice. The palate is soft with a real presence. Unfolding flavours of spicy dark fruits, chocolate and a lifted note of cassis, tobacco and leather. Great balance with fine tannins and a rounded acid on the finish. A persistent finish with remarkable freshness and purity.
