Small Batch Sauvignon Blanc 2024 750ml
2024 Pask Small Batch Barrel Ferment Sauvignon Blanc
On the nose a burst of ripe fruits - juicy apricots and white peaches. There's a hint of subtle nuttiness. Concentrated and inviting with a beautiful liveliness and purity.
A lovely weight and an oily texture coats the palate with a sense of richness. Flavours of ripe apricots are joined by a touch of pink guava. These tropical notes are balanced by a subtle yeastiness with an underlying vanilla note. These richer elements are shaped with a bright minerality. The wine retains a lovely acid backbone as a counterpoint, providing great structure,
The finish is persistent and layered. A subtle citrus zest lingers, alongside the more prominent minerality. Delicate notes of vanilla and spice emerge now, with the subtle characteristics of lees stirring and oak aging.
Michael Cooper, 2025 ~ 5 STARS
"The savoury, vigorous 2024 vintage (*****) is a top example of the region's Sauvignon Blanc. Harvested from mature vines in stony soils, it was fermented and lees-aged for eight months in French oak barriques. Bright, light lemon/green, it is ripely scented, mouthfilling and dry, with rich, vibrant, tropical fruit flavours to the fore, a gentle seasoning of toasty oak adding complexity, fresh acidity and a well-structured, lasting finish. Best drinking mid-2026+."
From grapes sourced off our oldest Sauvignon Blanc vines, on the stoniest side of our vineyard. We gently pressed the free run juice to French Oak Barriques and warmed the barrels using Hawke's Bay sunshine. A slow wild yeast fermentation allowed the wine to retain all the delicate flavours, following which we lees stirred the barrels for 8 months to develop palate weight and depth.
