Hans Herzog
Tempranillo 2021 750ml

A refined, Reserva-style Tempranillo with richness, balance and ageing potential.  Spain’s noble grape shows black cherry, violet, and rose aromas. Brooding yet elegant, with rich structure, a long finish, and 5 years ageing - Reserva quality at its best.

Vintage 2021

Cool, wet weather during flowering significantly reduced fruit set, resulting in an exceptionally small crop. The remainder of the growing season was near perfect, with a long Indian summer allowing the tiny berries to ripen slowly, concentrating flavour while retaining exceptional health. Meticulously hand-harvested at an extraordinary yield of just 500 g per vine, far below even the most elite Spanish Gran Reserva vineyards, the fruit displayed outstanding physiological ripeness, giving rise to a wine of remarkable concentration, finesse, and character.

Hans' Winemaking Comments

Hand-picked fruit was naturally fermented with indigenous wild yeasts after an extended cold soak to maximise aromatic purity and texture. Matured for 36 months in seasoned French oak barriques and further refined through extended bottle ageing, it reveals extraordinary depth, silky finesse, and captivating aromatics, standing comfortably alongside the finest long-aged Tempranillos of Spain. No fining. No filtration. Purely natural.
