Foxes Island
Icon Artist Series La Lapine Sauvignon Blanc 2014 750ml New Release
Outstanding - 95 Points, Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier
A captivating bouquet of complexity and bottle development, ripe citrus and tropical fruits, with a lees and mineral core. Fragrant with fresh herbs and fruit spice, some minerals, and ferment complexities. A satin texture touches the palate first then acidity drives through flavours of lemon peel and apple, pineapple, and fresh herbs. The lees and ferment characters layer in complexity and spice, length, and breadth. A delicious wine with texture, mouthfeel, and flavour, varietal qualities with an herbaceous layer and tropical fruit frame. Best drinking from 2023 through 2027.
From the Winemaker, John Belsham
La Lapine is only declared in exceptional vintages and is considered one of the finest expressions of Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand. One of the most ancient grape varietals known, Sauvignon Blanc is regarded in Europe for her elegance, structure, and ability to age. The vine is also the Mother of Cabernet Sauvignon.
The 2014 La Lapine was allowed time in the cellar to further develop complexity and offers luscious flavours of white peach, warm citrus, and honeycomb, with underlying layers of savoury herb and flint wrapped in a silky texture. It finishes long and focused. 3,033 bottles produced.
Both wines can be enjoyed now or further cellar-aged if one prefers.
