One serious weapon in the SOHO arsenal of boutique, hand-crafted wines from the Carter Vineyard on Waiheke Island. With a brooding but irresistible presence, this is a Bordeaux style red - a luxurious blend of Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot & Syrah. Decadently rich in dark fruits, red berry highlights and earthy undertones, this is a powerhouse of a wine with warmth, structure and sophistication. To complement the plummy, softness of Merlot, Malbec provides deep colour, depth, and complex, savoury flavour. The over-confident Petit Verdot adds further to the tannin structure and contributes dark, inky colour and floral, violet notes. The Mother of all red grapes, Cab Franc, brings classic Bordeaux-esque robust tannins, a splash of raspberry and bright acidity. A fully loaded blend. Matured for 9 months in French Oak - 40% New.
