Pink Ensemble Rosé 2022 750ml

An ensemble of Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc. Aromatics of ripe red apple, cranberry, cherries, and sweet strawberry. Cardamom spice and delicate clay mineral notes too. An intriguing and enticing texture balanced by natural acidity. Flavours of spice and red berries are drawn out on a mouthwatering saline quality. The nature of this wine will reward light cellaring, if desired, through to 2025.

 

2022 was an excellent vintage. A mild but wet 2021 winter saw the soil profile well replenished for the upcoming growing season. Flowering came early, yet avoided any frosts, resulting in strong potential yields. Spring growth was rapid, requiring many hours in the vineyard maintaining an open canopy. Aside from rain and high humidity over Waitangi weekend and, luckily, only a light touch from Cyclone Davi the season was dry and mild to warm. A successful flowering meant excess bunches were dropped off the vines to ensure plant and fruit balance and even ripening. The rose, an ensemble of Merlot, Malbec and Cab Franc was hand harvested on March 11 th . It spent 10 days on lees, with some stirring, pre fermentation to build structure and texture.
