Holdaway Sauvignon Blanc 2025

‘A cracking Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. The colour is lemon/green. This is beautifully constructed, refined and focused, with direction, great length and immaculate balance. The nose offers tropical hints with gooseberries, hints of passionfruit and citrus. A vibrant style which dances across the palate. There is great length here. A wine which can be enjoyed over the next half dozen years. If you like Sauvignon Blanc, this is for you. A cracking Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. The colour is lemon/green. Abstract Sauvignon Blanc 2024

‘Fantastic wine with a powerful statement about fruit selection, site and winemaker’s (both of them) passion and command of this variety and style. Wild flowers and white fleshed fruits, a mineral saline quality spoken through the mist of lees and subtle barrel-ferment suggestions. Delicious, complex, dry and lengthy. A wine that just keeps giving with flavours of citrus and white fleshed fruits, a tropical white tea quality and fresh sage idea. Lengthy, textured, salivating and ready to drink from day of purchase through 2032+.’

96 POINTS | CAMERON DOUGLAS MS | FEBRUARY 2026

Anandale Farm Riesling 2025

'A highly polished appearance with silver green hues leading to a bouquet of lime and fresh green apple, citrus and sherbet ideas. An off-dry expression with a noticeable sweetness and punchy acid line for contrast and power. Flavours reflect the bouquet with pomaceous and citrus then a white apricot quality. Balanced, well made and ready to drink from day of purchase and through 2033+. Be sure to cool this wine for service, no colder than 8 Celsius is the recommendation.’

93 POINTS | CAMERON DOUGLAS MS | FEBRUARY 2026

Gruner Veltliner 2024

‘Complex and concentrated with leesy richness underpinning the lime blossom, grapefruit, celery salt and fennel seed flavours. The mid-weight palate is crisp and chewy with peppery phenolics adding interest to the long, tangy and savoury flavours. A twist of root spice and wet stone on the dry finish brings everything to a point. This is just starting to relax and will offer delicious complexity over the next few years.’

95 POINTS | STEPHEN WONG MW | JANUARY 2026

Tano Chardonnay 2024

‘Youthful and taut, complex and sophisticated expression of Chardonnay. Modern and blending the ideas of old-world wine with new. Aromas of tree and stone fruits sitting nicely amongst a flinty, mineral leesy quality. Dry on the palate with a noticeable lean weight led by the fruit then lees and contrasting acid line. The alcohol sits perfectly framing these ideas and textures. Taut and dry, lengthy, a building complexity and fine finish. A wine to cellar for a little while longer with best drinking from mid to late 2027 through 2036.’

96 POINTS | CAMERON DOUGLAS MS | FEBUARY 2026

Reed Chardonnay 2024

‘Sourced from growers Pete and Anne Reed on a vineyard that sits in central Wairau, on an elevated terrace near the confluence of the Waihopai and Wairau Rivers. The site allows for slow, even ripening and the development of fine acidity and structure – qualities that were exacerbated by the exceptional 2024 vintage, which naturally gave low yields and vibrant acidities due to low night-time temperatures. Hand picking, whole-bunch pressing, wild ferments in French oak puncheons (40% new) and oak ageing for 11 months has given an exceptionally well defined and compelling style packed full of flinty, citric, nutty, toasty, smoky flavours and a vibrant, tense finish. ‘Is this the best one we’ve made so far..?’ muses Thomson while we taste. Irrespective: it’s fabulous. And still very young – this is a wine that will age well too, given its natural vibrancy and tension.’

Holdaway Sauvignon Blanc 2025
This single vineyard rendition of Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from the Holdaway Family vineyard at Dillons Point – our favourite sub region for the variety. It is a classic expression of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, being 100% tank fermented, but it offers complexity of texture and a mineral drive that summons river stones and sea spray. Blackcurrant, guava and passionfruit are captured alongside the subtlest hint of oyster-shell. This wine is focused and explosive on both nose and palate yet remains elegantly balanced and distinctly salty.

Abstract Sauvignon Blanc 2024

If classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is all fruit and zing, Abstract exists in another dimension altogether. It’s our ‘Savoury Blanc’, where texture and aromatic complexity bedazzle, and where vineyard and winemaking contribute equally. Just three rows of a dry-farmed parcel are handpicked from the Holdaway Vineyard in Dillons Point. There’s an intense and seductive perfume of blackcurrant and white florals, while winemaking lends savouriness and flinty minerality. Wild fermented in French oak puncheons (15% new) and lees-aged for 15 months, this is a wine rich in texture. With elegance and beautiful balance, it is for enjoyment now but will age with grace and dignity.

Anandale Farm Riesling 2025 We love the precision and balance of Kabinett Riesling. Like a sensational rollercoaster, this Riesling launches with a burst of sweetness before being engulfed by vibrant acidity which delivers length and balance on the finish. It brims with flavours of old-fashioned lemonade, key lime and honeysuckle. Beautiful focus and purity are thanks to its single vineyard designation, Anandale Farm, based in the coastal Blind River sub-region of Marlborough. We like to drink this wine while cooking a meal, as an aperitif that whets the palate.

Gruner Veltliner 2024

Fourteen years on from our inaugural Marlborough Grüner Veltliner, we’ve learned a thing of two about this fascinating variety. 2024 is our exciting debut from the Axehouse Vineyard, home to a hectare of some of the oldest Grüner vines in the country. Jonathan and Robyn Falloon meticulously nurture these vines while their award-winning homestead lends the property its edgy name.

The Omaka Valley's warm days, cool nights and clay-loam soils deliver perfect ripening, allowing this Grüner to unfurl with full-bodied richness, vibrant yuzu citrus and white-pepper aromatics. It nods to its Austrian roots with savoury, textural intrigue, while fully embracing New Zealand’s fruit-driven precision and opulence.

Tano Chardonnay 2024

High-toned and intense grapefruit, white florals and an attractive hazelnut and savoury musk form a complex aromatic picture. A highlight of this Chardonnay is its vividly sketched, elevated acidity gifted by the very cool, exposed coastal position of the Anandale Farm vineyard in Blind River. Layered flavours of grapefruit, lemon citrus and hazelnut combine with the vibrant acid line delivering vitality, persistence and a lengthy finish.

Reed Chardonnay 2024

The Reed Vineyard Chardonnay is an incredibly textured, savoury wine. It summons a tightly-coiled white peach, grapefruit and toasted hazelnut aroma profile, which is complemented by complex flint and silex nuances. Its vividly sketched acidity allows it to carry the powerful but savoury oak in a defined yet impressive manner. This is a wine for drinking now for its crystalline purity, or cellaring and reaping the benefits of tertiary development in many years to come.
