Holdaway Sauvignon Blanc 2024

95 Points - Outstanding ‘A stunning example with a bouquet of minerality and salty air, scents of nettles and tropical fruits, cape gooseberry and citrus peel. As the wine touches the palate the impacts of acidity and fresh citrus fruits are revealed first, then apple and fresh sage, basil and aforementioned tropical fruits. Saline and fresh, a delicious wine with a decent palate squeeze. Lengthy and well made with best drinking from day of purchase through 2029+.’ Cameron Douglas MS

Abstract Sauvignon Blanc 2021

96 Points - ‘White Bordeaux fans, get your coat; you've scored. The 2021 Sauvignon Blanc Abstract is a gorgeous, rich, full-bodied mouthful of intensely concentrated barrel-fermented Sauvignon. This is curvy, suave and sophisticated. Its ripe blackcurrant and fennel aromas meet lees-derived savory notes and nutty oak characters (aged in puncheons, 15% new). The 2021 has substance as well as fine acidity that provides mouthwatering refreshment. Its long finish is laced with layers of fragrance and texture. This has the componentry to age well, but it's delicious now, so why would you wait?’ Rebecca Gibb MW

Anandale Farm Riesling 2024

94 points ‘Classic, off-dry, fragrant and delicious on the palate. Aromas and flavours of white peach and lemon, a mix of red and green apple, white rose and wet stone minerality. The acid line carries the purity of fruit flavours and contrasts the off-dry sweetness level, there’s a fine saline quality, excellent phenolics and mouthfeel leading to a lengthy finish with complexity and finesse. Best drinking from day of purchase through 2030+.’ Cameron Douglas MS, December 2024

Gruner Veltliner 2023

17 Points - ‘Classic Grüner aroma of herby citrus, fresh pears and white pepper, with a little more ripeness than in some Austrian versions, more lower Wachau than cooler, western Wachau such as Spitzer Graben, perhaps. A touch of spice but not in the least an oaky wine – though the puncheons have given a finely-grained creamy texture. Rounded and fresh at the same time. This wine seems to be hitting its stride and, having tasted other vintages with bottle age, should age well. Long, textured (lightly chewy) finish.’ Julia Harding MW

Tano Chardonnay 2023

97 Points - Top 100 New Zealand Wines 2024 (#13) ‘This is a beautiful first-release single-vineyard chardonnay with subtle yet intense hazelnuts and sliced cooked apples with hints of Meyer-lemon character. Medium-bodied, it has an extremely long finish with structure and wonderful persistence. The hazelnuts and lightly spiced pears to the hints of cedar are so enticing. Drink or hold.’ James Suckling - November 2024

Reed Chardonnay 2023

96 Points ‘A single-vineyard chardonnay with apples, smoke, lightly toasted vanilla and matchstick. Full-bodied, yet there is tension and intensity. Shows excellent length, going on and on.’ James Suckling - November 2024

Holdaway Sauvignon Blanc 2024

this single vineyard rendition of Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from the Holdaway Family vineyard at Dillons Point – our favourite sub region for the variety. It is a classic expression of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, being 100% tank fermented, but it offers complexity of texture and a mineral drive that summons river stones and sea spray. Blackcurrant, guava and passionfruit are captured alongside the subtlest hint of oyster-shell. This wine is focused and explosive on both nose and palate yet remains elegantly balanced and distinctly salty.

Abstract Sauvignon Blanc 2021

If classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is all fruit and zing, Abstract exists in another dimension altogether. It’s our ‘Savoury Blanc’, where texture and aromatic complexity bedazzle, and where vineyard and winemaking contribute equally. Just three rows of a dry-farmed parcel are handpicked from the Holdaway Vineyard in Dillons Point. There’s an intense and seductive perfume of blackcurrant and white florals, while winemaking lends savouriness and flinty minerality. Wild fermented in French oak puncheons (15% new) and lees-aged for 15 months, this is a wine rich in texture. With elegance and beautiful balance, it is for enjoyment now but will age with grace and dignity.

Anandale Farm Riesling 2024

We love the precision and balance of Kabinett Riesling. Like a sensational rollercoaster, this Riesling launches with a burst of sweetness before being engulfed by vibrant acidity which delivers length and balance on the finish. It brims with flavours of old-fashioned lemonade, key lime and honeysuckle. Beautiful focus and purity are thanks to its single vineyard designation, Anandale Farm, based in the coastal Blind River sub-region of Marlborough. We like to drink this wine while cooking a meal, as an aperitif that whets the palate.

Gruner Veltliner 2023

Full-bodied richness, brilliant orange citrus, white pepper aromatics and a savoury, textural palate exemplify this our Marlborough Gruner Veltliner. With the variety originally hailing from Austria, we feel our rendition takes on the best of European structure and New Zealand fruit opulence. The fruit was hand-picked from two vineyards in the Central Wairau subregion, gently pressed and fermented in both stainless steel and 500L French oak puncheons. It spent 10 months maturing on fine lees which has given increased texture and complexity. We like to call it G.V. or Gruner - you can call it anything you like!

Tano Chardonnay 2023

High-toned and intense grapefruit, white florals and an attractive hazelnut and savoury musk form a complex aromatic picture. A highlight of this Chardonnay is its vividly sketched, elevated acidity gifted by the very cool, exposed coastal position of the Anandale Farm vineyard in Blind River. Layered flavours of grapefruit, lemon citrus and hazelnut combine with the vibrant acid line delivering vitality, persistence and a lengthy finish.

Reed Chardonnay 2023

The Reed Vineyard Chardonnay is an incredibly textured, savoury wine. It summons a tightly-coiled white peach, grapefruit and toasted hazelnut aroma profile, which is complemented by complex flint and silex nuances. Its vividly sketched acidity allows it to carry the powerful but savoury oak in a defined yet impressive manner. This is a wine for drinking now for its crystalline purity, or cellaring and reaping the benefits of tertiary development in many years to come.
