Anthem Vineyard Pinot Noir 2023 - Gibbston Valley | Central Otago
‘Mellow, complex pinot noir with layers of floral/violet, dried herb and savoury flavours that linger long after the wine has been swallowed. Delicious wine that achieves a perfect balance of subtle sweetness and mellow tannins.’
95 POINTS | BOB CAMPBELL MW | JULY 2025
Una Volta Pinot Noir 2020 - Bannockburn | Central Otago
Outstanding Fragrant and complex, there’s a delicacy as much as there is power; aromas of place and time, cherry flesh and raspberry, a fine savoury dried herb quality with layers of oak and mineral earth qualities. Plush and ripe with satin textures touching the palate first, flavours of cherries and flowers, dried herb and tilled soils. The oak add complexity and texture from a soft vanilla and sweetness to coarse silk tannins then a medium+ acid line. Delicious, powerful and charming. Best drinking from late 2024 or early 2025 through 2032+.'
96 POINTS | CAMERON DOUGLAS MS | DECMBER 2022
Escaroth Vineyard Pinot Noir 2021 - Taylor Pass | Marlborough
‘Escaroth is located in the Taylor Pass subregion of Marlborough, with clay-rich soils. Vines are around 20 years old on a north-facing hillside, and they are dry grown, which is very rare in Marlborough. 115 and 777 clones. This is a distinctive Pinot Noir with floral cherry fruit on the nose as well as some mulchy green hints, dried herbs, and some pepper. In the mouth there’s lovely structure underneath the fresh, sappy cherry, plum and pomegranate fruit and also some silkiness. There’s an appealing intensity and texture, with grainy structure. The green notes integrate beautifully with the sweet cherry notes. This is complex and beguiling with potential for development.’
96 POINTS | JAMIE GOODE | JANUARY 2026
Settlement Vineyard Pinot Noir 2021 - Omaka Valley | Marlborough
Named in the Top NZ Wines of 2025 - ‘The bouquet is impressive and strong with power and precision. Aromas of ripe mid to dark-skinned berry fruits including boysenberry and wild forest berries. There’s a seam of ripe plum then clove and vanilla spice elements. Wood and earth-smoke add complexity and definition. On the palate a dry wine with the power and precision that the bouquet suggested driving texture and tension, tannins and acidity make a bold statement contrasted by the core fruit flavours that reflect the bouquet. A delicious wine, one for the cellar with best drinking from 2029 through 2037+.
96 POINTS - OUTSTANDING | CAMERON DOUGLAS MS | JULY 2025
Upton Downs Vineyard Pinot Noir 2023 - Awatere Valley | Marlborough
‘This Upton Downs is sourced from over the hills in inland Awatere, where the dry, cool climate, complex soils and Dijon 777 clone give a wine style that’s pale and perfumed, with a vibrant freshness and lift. There’s an intriguing earthy, gamey, dusty character here, with dried herbs and pomegranate seed. It’s definitely on the lighter end of the spectrum – more Volnay than Gevrey, if you will – but with an upbeat vibrancy and drinkability that speaks very much of Awatere.’
95 POINTS | NZ WINES OF THE YEAR LIST & BEST WINEMAKER | SUSIE & PETER NEW ZEALAND WINES OF THE YEAR | JANUARY 2026
Element Vineyard Gimblett Gravels Syrah 2020 - Hawke's Bay
Named in the Top NZ Wines of 2025 - OUTSTANDING ‘Fantastic bouquet with the signature of soil and place showing first with aromas of stone and dry clay then a fine savoury dried herb voice. Next the fruit impacts of spiced plum skin and dark cherry skin then black currant berry and leaf. A dry wine on the palate, taut and with a firm squeeze of tannins and acidity then fruit - this wine will age for certain, there’s tension and texture from the tannins and acidity and gentle warmth from the abv. Finally, the core of fruit adds a plush mid-palate weight to round out the frame and finish. Best drinking from 2028/29 through 2036+.’

Anthem Vineyard Pinot Noir 2023 - Gibbston Valley | Central Otago
Growing up amid Central Otago’s dramatic slopes, we always imagined a Pinot Noir that spoke with that region’s cool-climate clarity; Anthem Vineyard in Gibbston delivers exactly that. This traditionally cooler subregion delivers a Pinot of luminous clarity: bright morello cherry and wild strawberry sit at the core, lifted by violet perfume and a thread of spicy red berry; beneath this sits a sappy, umami savouriness that adds drive and complexity. Wild fermentation, whole-cluster inclusion and a low-toast oak regime gives elegance, complexity and structure to the wine. It’s everything we adore about Pinot Noir - perfume, savoury complexity and boundless energy and freshness.
Una Volta Pinot Noir 2020 - Bannockburn | Central Otago
This is our second 'Una Volta' Pinot Noir from Central Otago, which is rather confusing considering Una Volta means 'one time' in Italian!
The 'Una Volta' name is designated to limited release one-off parcels that we believe will make something very special. The 2020 Una Volta hails from a site with impressive pedigree: the Renaissance Vineyard on Bannockburn's Felton Road.Sophie's family friends planted, manage and own this close-planted Pinot Noir and Chardonnay site above the Kawarau River and opposite the Bannockburn sluicings in the Cromwell Basin where Sophie grew up. So, it was only fitting that when a small 4.5 tonne parcel of this fruit was offered to us in 2020 we said yes. We're very excited to able to showcase Bannockburn Pinot Noir with all its glorious fragrance, generosity, innate structure and staying power.
Escaroth Vineyard Pinot Noir 2021 - Taylor Pass | Marlborough
Escaroth is a site that truly reflects vintage variation, with 2021 for us being close to if not the very definition of Pinot Noir perfection. It has a beguiling, complex perfume that treads both red and blue fruit and an enchanting spice, game and earthy savouriness. The very low-yielding year (3.3 tonnes/ha) coupled with the dry-farmed nature of the site has resulted in incredible concentration and intensity. A proportion of whole-bunch is used to ensure balanced extraction and lifted aromatics. The result is a very complex, savoury Pinot Noir with a structured yet elegant tannin framework.
Settlement Vineyard Pinot Noir 2021 - Omaka Valley | Marlborough
Our Settlement Vineyard Pinot Noir is a classic representation of Pinot Noir from the Omaka possessing incredible density and power of fruit and structure. From the very low-yielding 2021 vintage, this wine delivers black cherry, red and black berry fruits alongside a savoury seam of hillside herbs, forest floor and sappy spice. Firm, polished tannins and framed, integrated oak provide structure and tension, while the wine’s density masks a nimble energy and freshness from the use of whole- bunch. Built for the cellar yet already generous, it rewards patience with evolving complexity and tertiary charm.
Upton Downs Vineyard Pinot Noir 2023 - Awatere Valley | Marlborough
In the true expression of cool-climate Syrah, this wine exudes freshly cracked black pepper, crushed violets, red and black forest fruits and savoury smoky nuances. It has crunchy lifted acidity which carries the defined, fine-grain tannins and background of spicy, savoury oak.
This wine is about fragrance and texture, which is assisted by our pioneering co-fermentation technique with a small proportion of Gruner Veltliner skins as well as whole-cluster fermentation. The co-fermentation gives a white pepper spice quality to the flavour spectrum and intensifies and stabilises the brilliant purple hue of Syrah. The result is layers of complexity in flavour and tannins which will allow an intriguing long-term ageing potential.
Element Vineyard Gimblett Gravels Syrah 2020 - Hawke's Bay
The 2020 Element Vineyard Syrah is a portrait of fragrance and texture, showing the Gimblett Gravels’ rare combination of density and freshness. A high proportion of whole-bunch and signature co-fermentation with Grüner Veltliner lifts the bouquet into beguiling floral and spice notes - violet, star anise and smoked black pepper - woven with black plum, lifted currant and briny black olive notes.
On the palate it is compact and finely textured with bright acidity and attractive cocoa-powder tannins. Gentle oak and lees ageing adds richness and length without obscuring the site’s clarity. Perfumed with layered complexity now, it also promises rewarding development in bottle where it will reveal Syrah’s evocative tertiary nuances.
