2023 was a later start for us, and a slightly longer vintage by the end. Starting on March the 15th the weather stayed very settled through the vintage period and allowed us to pick as we like until we finished on April 18th.

Smaller crops always helps and after a warm period after Christmas the temperatures cooled down to ‘average’ and it served to maintain fruit flavours while ripening the fruit. A great team from seven nations worked so well together and we are super happy with the eventual wines.

'Marlborough' Pinot Noir 2023 - David Walker Bell - 94 Points

“This expression pulls together fruit from four vineyards across the region - including the Ward vineyard that is well south of Blenheim. The aromas are bold, rich and seductive. Boysenberry, cherry, doris plum, blood orange, blackberry flavours meet clove, star anise and sumac spices. Perhaps the richest and most attention-grabbing one of the trio, where texture is upfront, glossy and sleek. Tannin is smooth and plump, and the smudge of oak is well-judged. Beautifully poised with long lines of lush flavour and peppery spice”

'Twin Valleys' Pinot Noir 2023 - Sam Kim - 97 Points

“A stunning rendition, the immensely complex bouquet shows dark berry, porcini, smoked game, and roasted hazelnut aromas. The palate exhibits excellent concentration and richly textured mouthfeel, superbly framed by beautifully melded tannins, finishing impressively long and gratifying. At its best: 2027 to 2036."

'The Wrekin' Pinot Noir 2023 - Emma Jenkins MW - 95 Points

“Fragrant nose, lots of florals, Campari-like spice, savoury dark cherry and blackberry, and a distinctive earth/mineral note. Similar on the textural, layered palate, with mouthfilling dark, juicy fruit and a strong chalky/mineral thread. Quite tightly wound at present but the good concentration, well-integrated oak and length suggest plenty of time to let things unfurl. Decant in the meantime.”
