Syrah 2024 750ml
Our Passion Project
Syrah in Marlborough sits at the edge of climatic suitability, yet after years working with the variety we’ve learned that long hours of sunshine, paired with careful vineyard attention, can yield astonishing concentration and flavour.
Seven years ago we planted one acre of Syrah with the express aim of making a truly great example — a project that drew on twenty years of learning about soil, rootstock, row spacings, canopy management, pruning and winemaking. The vineyard stands apart: extremely close‑planted at 1.4 by 1.5 metres (5,600 plants per hectare), with the fruiting wire just 500 millimetres off the ground to capture radiated heat. We also planted 3% Viognier among the Syrah—a traditional Rhône practice that adds mid‑palate weight and helps fix colour when co‑fermented.
A wine with soul. This 2024 release takes a moment to reveal itself in the glass. Quietly, aromas of blackberry and violet, spice and white pepper appear — subtle at first, then a bigger, concentrated palate emerges, with supportive mid‑weight tannins and a long, soothing finish. This is a wine for a colder evening, perhaps slow‑roasted lamb and dazzling company.
We really hope you enjoy this wine. Warmly, Rachel & William
This wine has been released En Primeur, and will be reviewed once general release occurs.
