SERESIN ESTATE
The image of the hand is a symbol of strength, gateway to the heart, tiller of the soil,
the mark of the artisan, and embodies the philosophy of Seresin Estate.
Seresin Estate, located in Marlborough, New Zealand, was founded by Michael Seresin in 1992 and is
one of the country’s first organic and biodynamic wine producers. Tucked away in the folds of the Southern Valleys sub region, Seresin’s single estate wines hail from the clay & sandy loam soils of the Raupo Creek Vineyard.
Certified BioGro organic and biodynamically farmed. Wild yeast fermentation along with minimal
intervention in the winery produces wonderful, unique and complex wines. These resulting wines capture the essence of the vineyard’s energy and vibrancy, making every bottle of Seresin a genuine reflection of its provenance.
Seresin, wine of passion, grace & spirit.
We Are Biodynamic
From the beginning, we have been striving to be the most natural, diverse and balanced vineyard possible. The overall agriculture is close to the old world with not only vines, but also olive trees, livestock and honey bees, as well as native vegetation all feeding into the biodynamic culture. The principles of biodynamics define our grape growing and wine making.
Our Winemaking
Seresin’s approach to winemaking is more akin to the old world, where patience is a virtue and great things take time. Our grapes are often handpicked and whole bunch pressed before being left to allow the wild yeasts to ferment the grape juice into wine. Seresin wines spend extra time in barrel or bottle before release, resulting in wines with added savouriness that are layered and textural, elegant and restrained. This minimal intervention style of winemaking is intended to create wines that are a genuine representation of Raupo Creek Vineyard and show a unique sense of place.
Reviews
2023 Seresin Sauvignon Blanc
Rebecca Gibb MW - 90 Points
"Wild fermentation, a little bit of barrel-aging on lees
and a 10% addition of Sémillon in the blend make the 2023 Sauvignon Blanc far from your stereotypical Marlborough style. This wine plays on its clarity, texture and freshness. It’s aromatically subtle, with green notes meeting nectarine and blackcurrant. While the region’s natural freshness abounds, the wine retains a round shape and natural curve before being sewn up by a thread of acidity. There are layers of interest here that will keep you coming back."
"I have been to countless vineyards over the last couple of decades, but this one had a special feel to it. It felt magical – not just because it was pretty, but because it was very natural. We could hear a lot of wildlife and were surrounded by beautiful trees. It felt like the earth was happy, peaceful and cared for. It had been left to do its thing."
2022 Seresin Chardonnay Reserve
Cameron Douglas MS - 94 Points
"A complex and enticing bouquet of yellow fleshed stone fruits, grapefruit and toasty barrel with a wood smoke and spice quality then raw cashew and brazil-nut butter suggestions. Equally complex and delicious on the palate with a purity of fruit at the core, judicious use of oak and flavours that reflect the bouquet present a wine of quality. Fine tannins and plenty of acidity set in a place a sound structure with a light warming alcohol. Well made, dry on the finish and ready. Best drinking from early 2024 through 2029."
