Welcome to Spurlock Vineyards e-Cellar Door!

Spurlock Vineyards is a family owned and operated vineyard and wine producer, focused exclusively on high-quality organic Pinot Noir. We live and work on our 10 hectare property in the Blind River region of the Awatere Valley in southern Marlborough. The vineyard site is elevated and gently sloping, reducing the risk of frost damage. The dense clay soils and constant wind help to reduce canopy vigor and keep yields low – and quality high.

We first planted the vineyard conventionally in 2015, and in 2020 began our conversion to become fully certified organic. From the beginning, we wanted to produce organic single-vineyard Pinot Noir that is sustainable and free from harmful herbicides and pesticides.

The fruit is hand picked and allowed to ferment in open top stainless steel vessels with native yeasts. It is then pressed and carefully racked into quality French oak barrels, where malolactic conversion naturally takes place. After 12-14 months in barrel, we bottle the wine in light weight glass to help lessen our impact on the environment.
