Tasting Notes

Named for the coal seam which was mined during the goldrush and lies beneath the Carrick Vineyards – The Excelsior is our finest expression of Pinot Noir. The wine is aged in barrel for 18 months, then bottled without fining. It is contemplative, complex, layered, earthy, intense and persistent.

Origin: Cairnmuir Vineyard, Carrick, Bannockburn, Central Otago

Additions: Sulphur Dioxide (PMS), Yeast Hulls

Filtration and/or Fining: Coarse filtration, no fining.

Alcohol: 13.5% abv
