Carrick
Josephine Riesling 2024 750ml
A medium-sweet style bursting with lime and mandarin
Josephine is the alternative name given by sailors to the Carrick Bend knot. Josephine, our reserve Riesling, is made from selected parcels of grapes hand-harvested from Arthur’s Vineyard. The sweetest wine of the range, it is a medium-sweet, mosel-esque style.
A vibrant medium-sweet Riesling, delicious alongside south-east Asian dishes, with soft goat cheese or on its own as an aperitif.
Winemaking: Hand-picked, whole-bunch pressed, then fermented using native yeast in tank. The fermentation is brought to a close when an appropriate balance of sugar and acid is found.
"The 2024 Josephine is that classic balance of zingy acidity and bright sherbetty sweetness, one can find in Central Otago Rieslings. Pineapple, rock melon, lime and ginger marmalade notes delight the palate. It finishes bright, fresh and clean." - Winemaker Rosie Menzies
95 points - Outstanding
Aromas of variety and mineral, wild white flowers and pear, fresh red apple and sweet Meyer lemon. Fragrant, lifted and enticing. On the palate a medium-sweet expression with flavours of lemon and sherbet, apple, lime and lemon along with contrasting acid line. Fresh, lively and delicious, a wine perfect as an aperitif or with delicately sweet seafood. Lengthy, balanced and well made. Best drinking from 2023 through 2030+.
