Carrick Bannockburn 1.5L Magnum Chardonnay 2024 1.5l

A classic full-bodied white wine

Carrick Chardonnay is in our core range which represents each of the different varieties we proudly make from our estate, year after year. Carrick’s wind-swept site and glacial alluvial soils help to define the acidity of this wine, which balances the citrus and stone fruit characters, as well as giving length and flow to the palate.

The 2024 is 5 different parcels and 5 different clones, from the top and bottom terraces of the Cairnmuir Terrace vineyard, encompassing all the different estate Chardonnay parcels. Harvested by hand between the 14th-27th of March 2024.
 
Hand-harvested and carefully sorted in the vineyard, before being whole-bunch pressed. After settling overnight, the juice was transferred to barrel, where each parcel underwent wild ferment and remained on lie for 11 months. Comprising 11% new French oak, the barrels were stirred during primary fermentation to encourage yeast activity. Prior to the following harvest, each barrel was blended in tank and matured for a further 5 months before bottling, allowing the wine to harmonise.

Delicious! Aromas and flavours of fresh white fleshed stone fruits and pacific rose apple, a layer of lemon zest then mineral, flint and white flowers. Dry with a near full-bodied mouthfeel, medium+ acid line and lengthy finish. Flavours of mineral and gun-flint, citrus and white fleshed fruits with a floral overtone, fine fruit tannins and judicious use of oak. Well made with medium+ length and complexity. A delicious wine with best drinking from day of purchase through 2032+.
