As one of the region’s founding wineries, our focus is always on handcrafting premium wines and honouring the traditions that have made us a world-renowned destination, since releasing Central Otago's first commercial vintage in 1987.

Our wine is unfined, unfiltered and sustainably produced. Not only in our wine, but in our dining and other experiences we offer, we create unique and pure reflections of our ruggedly-beautiful and incredibly diverse surrounds. We're inspired by the pursuit of good wine, good food and what we like to call good living.

OUR HISTORY

Learn about our rich winemaking history as one of Central Otago’s founding wineries. We have the unbridled passion of a wild Irishman and his zeal for risk taking to thank for our legacy as the region’s founding winery. No one thought grapes could flourish at 45 degrees south of the equator, but wine pioneer, Alan Brady, took a chance on the unknown and planted the region’s first vines in 1983. The rest, as they say, is history. Today, his original Home Block Vineyard continues to create award-winning vintages and is now certified organic.

Meet the team behind our handcrafted, award-winning wines. Our winemakers pour their passion for wine and the alluring and unique characteristics of our vineyards into every bottle of Gibbston Valley Wine. From handpicking whole bunches of grapes to macerating fruit by foot, they use traditional and time-tested techniques to craft our award-winning range of premium varietals.

OUR VINEYARDS

Located in the Gibbston and Bendigo sub-regions our vineyards are exceptionally individual within the stunning Central Otago region. We value and respect our vineyards most of all. We have seven vineyards, two in Gibbston and five in Bendigo. Their intricate and diverse landscapes allow us to create wines that reflect the site they grow in. Everything from the soil type to altitude and temperatures during growing season impacts the flavours and aromas of our wine.

I love the attention to detail given by our server. I didn’t partake in the wine tasting but the server was very informative about the wines my family sampled and made us feel like royalty.
We didn’t eat as no vegan option appealed. Was lovely to sit in the beautiful garden and soak up the atmosphere.
A must-do if you’re looking to do a vineyard trip.
