Gibbston Valley
China Terrace Pinot Noir 2013 3l
The warm of the growing season meant we picked China Terrace in early April; the heat metabolising
acids relatively early with intense-flavoured fruit. Handpicked, the fruit was 95% destemmed into
4 tonne fermenters. Long macerations for 30 plus days followed. Pressed into 30% new oak, the
wine went through malolactic fermentation in barrel, and spent ten months total in oak.
Dark with flashes of purple to the colour and very deep. A deep, impressive, brooding nose
follows, with rich leather, spice and dark berry compote aromas. Expansive and yet detailed, the
engaging palate is very tactile, surging though with impressive concentration. Generous, savoury
tannins sweep through on the finish.
