Welcome to Wild Earth Wines
Wild Earth is a boutique family owned winery who produce award winning Pinot Noir and also some wonderful examples of aromatic and vibrant Pinot Gris, elegant cool climate Chardonnay, Riesling and beautiful Pinot Noir Rosé. Our clay, schist, silty loam soils and alpine climate produce a wine that is one of a kind. Each year the precious Central Otago terroir gives us luscious bunches of Pinot pleasure. We only use French oak for barrel maturation. All grapes are handpicked, and this gentle handling of the fruit gives you a true expression of the rugged landscape. A variety of our wines have been highly regarded and awarded medals in New Zealand and internationally. To date our Pinot Noirs received 9 Trophies, 36 gold medals and multiple five start ratings. Something that we are really proud of and further testament to the wonderful terroir and our winemaking philosophies.
Since 2015 our wines are being made by Jen Parr. Jen has a depth of international winemaking experience including in the USA, France, South Africa and Australia. She has completed 17 harvests in NZ and is approaching 30 vintages overall. Jen loves to share her tremendous passion for wine and winemaking, teaching others about wine and its endless potential for enjoyment. She is an accomplished Wine Judge and is very active in the local wine industry. On top of that, Jen was awarded NZ Winemaker of the Year 2020 by Gourmet Traveller WINE. We are thrilled to have her as our winemaker.
"Delivering a high level of fruit concentration, suggestive of low yields, this is a Pinot that's received a lot of attention. Expect damson skin, anise, tea leaf and cinnamon in this savory yet herbal style. The tannins are well handled, coating the palate with a cloak of gravelly grain and providing a satisfying finish. Fresh and persistent".
Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous, March 2021, about the Earth and Sky Pinot Noir 2019
"It’s wonderfully ripe and elegantly perfumed on the nose showing sweet cherry, violet, cedar and warm spice aromas on the nose. The palate is equally satisfying, displaying excellent weight and intensity, together with refined mouthfeel and silky texture, leading to an impressively long velvety finish. Magnificently composed and sensually appealing. At its best: now to 2029".
Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Oct 2020, about the Pinot Noir 2019
"A captivating bouquet with aromas of Central Otago wild flowers and rocky outcrops then fruits of peach and lemon and apple. A moderate layer of oak and barrel spice tickles the nose adding complexity and charm along the way. On the palate - soft creamy textures give way to youthful acidity, fresh, crisp fruit flavours, lemon and barrel spices of oak. Plenty of weight and intensity with a core of fruit and youthful, fresh finish in a Chablis-like expression".
