Our 2023 Jasper Ridge Single Vineyard Syrah was independently reviewed by Wine Orbit and achieved 5* Gold 93/100, outstanding quality showing varietal purity and exemplifying regional type:
“Sweetly ripe with elegant complexity, the wine exhibits aromas of Black Doris plum, cherry, thyme, clove, and roasted nuts on the nose. The palate displays succulent fruit flavours with savoury nuances, well supported by silky texture and layers of fine-grained tannins, finishing persistent and refined. At its best: now to 2031.”
Recommended by The Real Review Stephen Wong (Master of Wine): 4* Silver 91/100 points:
“Vibrant purple. Expressive aromas of Black Forest gateau: dark cherry swaddled in cinnamon and mocha cream. The palate has a taut acidity which tightens everything up, giving it line and length rather than voluptuousness. The dark, chewy fruit, dusty charred oak and twist of bittersweet cocoa add complexity and anchor this otherwise fruit-driven lighter-weight syrah. It could benefit from a touch more bottle age to absorb the structure and turn on the spice, but the juicy fruit will be best on the younger side.”
