Estate Syrah 2024 750ml

The 2024 vintage was a classic Hawke’s Bay growing season; a warm, dry settled summer, which was a bonus after the interesting 2023.

2024 Bilancia Syrah was sourced from the Trelinnoe Vineyard at Roys Hill in Hawke’s Bay; predominantly the flat, gravels site with a small amount from the hillside. There is also a small volume of Marsanne and Roussanne from la collina vineyard in the blend.

The Syrah fruit was crushed to fermentation vessels and the ferment was hand plunged daily. The wines were pressed at dryness and run to older French oak barriques to complete malolactic fermentation.

The wine shows lifted berry fruits and plums with the underlying, distinctive Hawke’s Bay spice. The palate has balanced acidity with ripe, gentle tannins and the Marsanne/Roussanne component adding a subtle fruit character. A great wine for opening on release, the 2024 Syrah is a vibrant, youthful wine and can be enjoyed immediately but it will also continue to develop over the next four to six years.
