Burn Cottage
Vineyard Pinot Noir 2022 750ml
Complex with dark cherry notes, violets and bright florals complimenting earthy, flint mineral tones and darker savoury character. Layered on the palate, this wine has a wonderful suppleness and depth of interest with expressive fruit and fine sinewy tannins. The palate shows length and concentration, and while delicious now, there is a definite promise of more with time. Cellaring potential 10-12 years.
A stunning red, offering an aromatic and expressive mix of blueberry, raspberry and maraschino cherry, along with notes of dried rose petal, sandalwood and toasted cumin seed, plus a touch of fresh mint. Plush and velvety, with details of black walnut liqueur, white pepper and palo santo that linger on the long, expressive finish. Drink now through 2039.

The 2022 Burn Cottage Vineyard Pinot Noir is light and fine, with a delicate array of cherry, strawberry, red apple and freshly pressed linen notes. Woven throughout is sweet tobacco, graphite, white tea and finely ground pink peppercorns. In the mouth, the acidity works with the tannins to penetrate the palate with flavor, and it has an ethereal quality to it, which marks it as distinctly different from the Sauvage Pinot Noir. This is an eminently pretty Pinot Noir and comes highly recommended

Perfumed and fragrant aromas of dark cherries, blackberry bushes, spices, wet bark and rose petals. The palate is medium-bodied with firmly integrated tannins and bright acidity, giving notes of redcurrants, wild raspberries, citrus peel and lead pencil. Refined and pure with an underlying power and tension. Drink or hold.

From a warmer vintage, which generally favours this site, the 2022 is an immaculate Burn Cottage Vineyard Pinot Noir. Winemaker Claire Mulholland is so intimately familiar with the fruit from this biodynamic vineyard that every action she takes is thoughtful, deliberate, tailored and leaves almost no trace. Don’t let this wine’s initial quiet subtlety fool you: it’s a classic peacock’s tail pinot.
Restrained though intriguing nose with lurking layers of blackberry, dark cherry, flint and woodsmoke. The palate has outstanding concentration while retaining supremely elegant poise and grace. Not a hair out of place, the ultra-fine tannins, long, measured acidity and silky texture are so perfectly balanced that all attention can be focused on the kaleidoscope of subtle, evolving flavour which pans across the palate. Hard to resist already, yet there is no doubt that this beautifully elegant pinot noir will go the distance if cellared. (Cork)
