Q WINE
Pinot Gris 2024 750ml
The vintage of 2024 will stand out in the history of Waitaki wines as a landmark season. El Niño proved a benevolent force, bestowing its favour upon the Waitaki vineyards and blessing us with a warm, dry growing season. It could almost be likened to the year of the leisurely vintner, as we savoured the gradual accumulation of warmth across the valley, unencumbered by the notorious 5:00 pm “BBQ” winds that typically sweep the Otago coastline. This vintage was the second warmest of the past 15 years, with a remarkable accumulation of 950 GDDs. Despite a turbulent spring, characterised by the customary October and November gusts, the season soon settled into a tranquil rhythm, with scarce rainfall thereafter. Harvest commenced a full 10 days earlier than our standard forecast, granting us an extended period for meticulous fruit selection.
A bright and electric Pinot Gris, beautifully crunchy fruit supported by acid tension; a waxy, oily palate flows along chalky minerals to a lengthy, crisp finish.

Complex, ripe, varietal and fruity core with with scents of pomaceous fruits, pear and quince , some red apple and plenty of cool climate white spice layers. Weighty and satin-cream textured as the wine touches the palate, flavours mirror the bouquet led by pear then apple, some citrus pith notes then the spice continues. Balanced and well made withy a lengthy finish. Best drinking from early 2025 through 2028.

94 Points - Excellent
This has a lifted and aromatic nose with juicy lemonade apple aromas, wild herbs and chamomile. Intriguing notes of spice lurk within, whilst remaining fresh and lively on the whole. This changes gears on the palate, where the very tangy acidity underpins considerable weight and concentration of fruit which shows a beautifully grainy, chalky texture and sustained, complex notes of spice and dried flowers through to a long finish. The balance between acidity and fruit here is remarkable; it can easily cellar for the mid-term.

Vibrant yellow tones with subtle pale hues characterise this expressive wine. On the nose, aromas of baked apple are complemented by nuances of nectarine and crystallised ginger. Clean flavours of tropical and stone fruits unfold gracefully, making this wine a delightful sensory experience.
