Pinot Noir 2024 750ml New Release
The 2024 vintage will stand out in the history of Waitaki wines as a landmark season. El Niño proved a benevolent force, blessing the Waitaki vineyards with a warm, dry growing season. It could almost be described as the year of the leisurely vintner, as warmth accumulated gradually across the valley, untroubled by the notorious 5:00 pm “BBQ” winds that typically sweep the Otago coastline. This vintage was the second warmest of the past 15 years, with a remarkable accumulation of 950 GDDs. Despite a turbulent spring marked by the customary October and November gusts, the season soon settled into a tranquil rhythm, with scarce rainfall thereafter. Harvest began a full 10 days earlier than our usual forecast, allowing an extended window for meticulous fruit selection.
Great colour and varietal bouquet with scents of boysenberry and raspberry flesh, dark cherry and layers of earth and barrel spice combinations. ripe, varietal and fruity with core flavours that reflect the bouquet. Use of barrel perfect, an abundance if fine tannins and acidity frame the palate perfectly. There’s a distinctive seashell mineral seam adding personality and a clear site voice. Best drinking from 2027 through 2033 though also drinkable today if you are keen.

95 Points - Outstanding
Delicate and finely-woven tannins embrace the ripe red fruit, floral fragrance and gentle spices in silky, crisp, linear acidity ripples and carries to an elegant finish.

Taut, brooding pinot with compact, concentrated flavours of blackberry, violet, dates, berry spice, wood smoke and licorice. The palate is driven primarily by acidity, which helps balance the decadent lashings of malted milk cookie oak. Currently very young and not yet integrated: give it a year or two in bottle to absorb the obvious woodiness. Persistent floral and purple fruit notes on the finish suggest it has enough depth to reward mid-term cellaring with layers of perfumed complexity.

Complex aromas of wild berry and vanilla, with a hint of forest floor and spice. The tannins are firm yet fresh, making this an elegant Pinot Noir.
