Welcome to Stonyridge
Waiheke Island, nestled off the coast of Auckland, New Zealand is home to rolling green hills, abundant sunshine, and lush vineyards. After coming to love the illustrious red wines of France, Tuscany, Spain, and California, our founder landed on the island’s shores in 1982 with a dream; to create the finest Bordeaux blend ever produced in New Zealand. In 1987, Larose, the first five grape blend grown in the New World, achieved that dream.
And you don’t have to just take our word for it; an elite team of French sommeliers ranked Stonyridge Larose 1996 equal with Château Pétrus, Lafite Rothschild, Latour, and Cheval Blanc in Grandes vins rouge du Monde (Les Editions du Bottin Gourmand). Larose consistently scores 95-97 points by authorities such as James Suckling and Wine Advocate. Today, Stonyridge is also privileged to hold a spot on Guardian UK’s Top 10 Wineries in the World List.
Reviews
I have seen many new world attempts to emulate the bordeaux method of growing grapes, none more convincing than that of Stephen White at Stonyridge... A vertical tasting did no more than confirm my view that Stephen White is making New Zealand's finest Cabernet-based red wines.
James Halliday, Wine Atlas of Australia and NZ
There’s not really that many special places on the planet that can produce Cabernet to this quality ... wines of true greatness!
Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate
The vineyard that caused the wine world to wake up to Waiheke, Stonyridge has produced vintages that have been rated among the very best on the planet.
