Established by Linda and Ian Quinn, Two Terraces is a grower vineyard located on the Mangatahi Terraces, on the southern side of the Ngaruroro River in Hawke’s Bay. Our goal is to grow top quality fruit for winemakers making premium wines from Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Gamay Noir, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Albariño grapes.
The Mangatahi subregion, with its elevation and inland location bringing later ripening, is well known for producing fruit with much-coveted fresh and bright flavours. The soils that make up the terraces are a silt/sand loam laid down by the river's ancient flows, along with windblown loess and some volcanic influence from the North Island's Central Plateau. These sit atop deep alluvial red metals that reach a depth of 40m on our top terrace. Approximately two-thirds of the vineyard is organically certified or well into conversion, with a focus on organic regenerative viticulture clearly at the centre of all future plans.
Today our winemakers span established and well known Hawke’s Bay icons through to young up-and-coming labels, along with several collaborations. During the 2025 vintage, 61 separate parcels of fruit were picked for 19 different winemakers, each with their own style and take on the Two Terraces terroir. The Wine Collective Direct platform provides a unique opportunity to explore different varieties and winemaker approaches from the same site, with shipping available to a wide range of countries around the world.
